This Week in Backgrounds: More Acquisitions and Cool Stuff in India

Hi everyone!  I hope you’re all NOT in the Midwest with me braving the below 0 temperatures.  There have been a few acquisitions announced this week. If you’re keeping track, they’re the ones I alluded to in my last blog post.  In addition, I got a really cool demo of a newer product out of India that I think deserves everyone’s attention.

Community Brands, a division of Ministry Brands, the leading provider of cloud-based software for associations, nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations, today announced the acquisition of AmericanChecked, Shield Screening and U.S. Information Search. In addition to its volunteer screening, the company’s background check capabilities will now include industry-leading employment and tenant screening. A huge congrats to the team at Community Brands and a shameless plug for my good friend and screening legend, Julie Hackman, CEO of AmericanChecked.

I received a demo from my old friend Sachin Aggarwal of AMS Inform.  AMS developed something quite impressive and I’m ashamed that it took me this long to notice.  Sachin and his team have advanced a way for automation and processing criminal and civil records of over 60,000 district and session courts, High courts & Supreme Courts in India.  With this new data stream of eFIR, customers can now access official Police registered eFIR – First Information Report and download them in addition to search results from eCourts, from all over the nation of India.

FIR stands for First Information Report. It is the document that the police write out and file when they receive a complaint that a cognizable offense has been committed. An FIR is a very important document as it sets the process of criminal justice in motion. It is only after the FIR is registered in the police station that the police take up investigation of the case.

CourtCheck is a unique easy to use database search tool revolutionizing the way India Criminal and Civil court retrieval is done. By using this database tool, AMS Inform is offering an even more complete and efficient technological solution and a great alternate to JUDIS, a FREE search.

CourtCheck significantly decreases the amount of time taken to retrieve information directly from the public records. With access to over 250+ million records from e-courts, CourtCheckTM simplifies a fragmented, unstructured space and produces results that were thought impossible until now. Just search with name and address.

We’ve all used various vendors for searches in India, but how many have yielded actual results?  There are a lot of vendors claiming to have good India search methods, this one is proven and houses actual records.

I have been writing about innovation in the industry for some time now, this is the first I’ve seen outside the United States I feel it is important to note that neither Sachin nor his firm AMS Inform are clients of Morris Group Consulting, he was simply showing me something he created and I felt it my obligation to write about a tool that I feel can advance the screening industry.

If you have any new products or innovations you would like to share with me, hit me up.  I hope everyone stays warm this week and until my next article, be well!

Best,

Jason
